Short Synopsis: In this film we tell the story of an immigrant family living in the Greater Toronto Area through one continuous take. A mother leads us through a typical family home environment: dinner is almost ready, a loving husband arrives home from work, her youngest child is playing outside, her eldest arrives home from camp. During these moments we see hints of the YMCA’s presence in their lives and in the surrounding community. Then, the story seamlessly pivots to reveal a much different world where the family and the community they live in does not have the support of the YMCA.

Notes for Judging: The YMCA has a perception problem in the city of Toronto. Its residents see the YMCA t as a leisure and activity centre and don’t’ realize how vital the YMCA is to the communities they live in. They offer free language classes, job placement programs and critical support for the LGBTQ2 community and newcomer families moving from a different culture.
