Short Synopsis: | Two bourgeois fathers engage in an argument over who will pay the bill at the end of a meal. Inspired by my childhood memories of my father and his friend Ahmet arguing over who would pay the bill after meals, this film highlights a unique aspect of Turkish society. "Adisyon" focuses on the emptiness of the power display between two fathers through their bill-paying argument. It aims to satirically highlight the vacuousness of the bourgeois class’s existence when coupled with hypocritical class criticism through monetary assertion. The film also explores the struggle of the bourgeois class to maintain their self-imposed masks and touches on the homoerotic nature of masculine ego clashes while paying homage to the healing power of the feminine. Designed as a 6-minute, dialogue-free short film, "Adisyon" draws inspiration from Ruben Östlund’s "Triangle of Sadness," Buñuel’s "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie," Nadia Lee Cohen’s "A Guide To Indulgence," and Martin Scorsese’s "Age of Innocence." |
