Immaturity - David Cottington
|Title of Piece:||Immaturity|
|Production Company:||Future Sins|
|Short Synopsis:||After taking his first breath on earth, a man experiences the human plight of maturity.
Doomed to live in a constant state of rebirth, he endures infancy, childhood, and adolescence in fast succession, as he fulfils the most human of quests for knowledge. But does man’s pursuit of wisdom kill the inner child?
This fashion film for David Cottington’s ‘im/mature’ collection explores the process of ageing and how our lives are signposted by key phases in our development. As we pass through these stages we tend to shed our old ways and show a new side to ourselves. This collection celebrates the progression of maturity, but also asks whether it could be considered a social construct. Using the idea of shamanistic rituals of rebirth, this film explores David Cottington’s collection representing the baby months, toddler years, and puberty stages of growth.
