Short Synopsis: | Director duo King She teams up with French-Cameroonian artist Yamê on their first collaboration, the visually striking video “Shoot." Drawing from a pivotal fall in Yamê’s childhood that shaped both his distinctive teeth and identity, the video opens with a symbolic crash, revealing a surreal, Escher-inspired inner landscape. Structured like a psychological video game, each "level" pushes deeper into Yamê’s mind—from high-speed motorcycle chases to introspective “boss battles.” Within this labyrinth, multiple Yamês confront versions of themselves, navigating chaos and internal struggle. Inspired not only by Yamê’s fall but also a similar formative incident in the director’s own past, the shared history lends the narrative an emotional resonance. Filmed at Villa Arson in Nice, the video fuses raw brutalist architecture with Cameroonian cultural motifs, including spiral village designs that evoke ancestral and cosmic symbolism. Key VFX partner MONUMENTAL FX provided standout CGI and set extension work, helping to fully realize the surreal architecture of Yamê’s internal world. The end result is Shoot: a rich, cinematic journey through the complex architecture of the self. |
