| Short Synopsis: | Turkish Oil Wrestling combines Turkish culture and bizarre characters in a wild mix of toxic masculinity and unexpected male intimacy. This traditional sport finds its origin in 1361 in the Ottoman Empire. Since then, Turkish men covered in oil, wrestle each year in the longest-running sport tournament in the world for the golden belt, the title on the Baspehlivan. This short documentary film aims to encourage an understanding and connection between diverse communities and their cultures. Especially in times, when tensions in society are growing, cultural exchange is more important than ever. |
