| Short Synopsis: | What is racism? How does racism feel for those affected? What are the consequences of racism and how can racism be made visible to those not affected? A critical examination of society, politics and industry. In cooperation with affected people from Germany, told and staged in five acts. IN MY SKIN explores the extent to which colonial continuities run through the global present and aims to illustrate how these structures affect the health of those who are affected by racism on a daily basis. The experimental short film focuses on making contact with those not affected on an emotional level in order to sensitize them to the social grievances associated with racist discrimination. Empathy can only be generated through feeling. This is necessary in order to grasp and understand what everyday life can feel like for BIPoC in a white dominated society. The aim of IN MY SKIN is to make the core aspects of a racist experience more tangible, to give them a material guise and an attempt to visualize the feelings of those affected. |
