| Short Synopsis: | The duality of onerous lust and desire/struggle in forming human connection is at the heart of PIENSO EN TI, an audio-visual collaboration between music duo Mona et Toi and Colombian director / visual artist Camila Pineda. Sung in French, Spanish and English with a lo-fi pitch-stretched reggaeton rhythm, PIENSO EN TI embraces the diverse cultural influences and multilingual sonic schizophrenias of the duo that shape Mona et Toi - French-born Alison Manicourt and British-Iranian Shervin Hejazi. The song was recorded in their hometown of Barcelona, with the film shot in Bar 18 situated in the Gothic Quarter. Visually inspired by the aesthetic-warped universes of idols David Cronenberg and Gaspar Noe, the film features the duo with prosthetics designed and created by Makeup/SFX artist Dídac Asensio, as well as synthetic body prothesis designed by visual/digital/performance artist Alicia Arévalo. In this atypical love narrative featuring third ears and eyes, two characters who look as “defective” as they feel find each other in a crowd, to form an addictive embrace.
